About

How I  Wound Up Here

It's been a long, strange trip!

I've been writing for a wide variety of outlets, across multiple channels, for over two decades.

I started in journalism, logging bylines with numerous outlets including Yahoo!, Variety, Maxim, Esquire.com, Glamour, The Hollywood Reporter, The Chicago Sun Times, The Los Angeles Times, E! Online and many others. I've interviewed Emmy and Oscar winners, I've attended and covered some big entertainment award shows, I've profiled feminist heroes and fascinating personalities, I've accidentally ripped out my eyelashes for a story, and I've written about traveling a decent chunk of the globe (including Thailand, India, Belize, Scotland, Taiwan, all over South America, Spain and Tahiti, just to name a few).

I've also contributed to three anthologies (published by Random House, Cleis Press and Phoenix Books in 2004 and 2005) before editing one of my own, Naked Ambition (published by Caroll & Graf in 2005), and writing my first memoir, Sexography (published by Phoenix Books in 2007). Since then, I've crafted several ghost-written projects and written screenplays, three of which have been produced.

I've also built a strong list of copywriting clients. Over the past 18 years I've written a wide range of content for companies spanning the lifestyle genre, including branding, product descriptions and taglines, heads and subs, company bios, website content, newsletters, brochure copy, news articles, internal communications and so much more. My client list includes Fabletics, Experian, Pressed Juicery, AT&T, UCLA, Nordstrom, Carrington Mortgage Services, GLAMGLOW, Luxe Hotel Group, Wagstaff Worldwide, BBDO and many others.

I've spoken and presented at the University of Southern Missouri, Toronto Women’s Bookstore, Elliot Bay Books, the In the Flesh Reading Series, and Blue Stockings Bookstore. And I've been interviewed by a wide range of media including The Insider, E! True Hollywood Story, Sex TV, Nightline, Sirius XM Radio, ABC News, MSNBC, The Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, Cosmopolitan, and many more.

Lastly, I've done volunteer work with a handful of non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting women, I'm a (mostly) vegan adventurous cook, an avowed Disney nerd and pop culture obsessive, dedicated binge-watcher (who sometimes talks at the TV as if it will answer her back), and kitty mom to the World's Greatest Cat (certified).
